I have a passion for supporting individuals by encouraging changes, healing, and empowerment. I have had the wonderful opportunity to practice as a mental health therapist as well as share my expertise to deliver educational services in Palm Beach County for the last 6+ years. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from South University and I currently hold a Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I am currently completing an EdD with an emphasis in Behavioral Health at Grand Canyon University.
I have experience working with children and families, adolescents, adults, couples, and groups. My approaches to therapy are client centered, solution-focused, humanistic, and strengths-based. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, domestic violence, promoting maternal mental health during pregnancy, cultural bias, racial equity, child abuse and neglect, Motivational Interviewing, Brazelton Touchpoints, Infant Mental Health Levels 1 & 2, Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR trained therapist), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and I am dialectical behavior therapy informed.
I have experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma and abuse, anxiety, depression, stress, and co-occurring disorders. I have also worked with clients dealing with single parenthood, partner relational conflict, childhood and generational trauma, grief, and loss issues. I specialize in child-parent/family issues, and domestic abuse (intimate partner violence).
I believe that it is important to treat everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. As a nation, I believe it is important that we work towards reducing the stigma around mental health and mental illness so that we can begin to start breaking generational trauma.
I recognize that confidentiality is an important aspect of counseling and I strive for privacy and safety in the counseling relationship. As your therapist, I take your confidentiality very serious and I do not share any information about clients to anyone without a written authorization. Exceptions to confidentiality are rare and I will always adhere to legal and ethical standards. I discuss confidentiality in the first session, it is in my informed consent and I am also available to answer any questions about confidentiality as they may arise in the course of your treatment.
I strive to build a therapeutic relationship with my clients that consist of empathy and compassion. I strive to provide my clients with a non-judgmental environment where clients feel validated and secure while processing their emotions.
As your therapist I strive to be genuinely accepting of all my clients feelings and emotions. I believe we all have a story but what we do with that story is what matters the most. I fully understand, appreciate, and respect the differences of clients that will enter into therapy. I am here to fully support you through your journey.
